Just type in your questions and get real-time answers from Knight Foundation staff. Last week, Philadelphia Program Director Donna Frisby-Greenwood and Arts Associate Tatiana Hernandez met with nearly 70 members of the community for a Town Hall Meeting at the Center for Architecture. The room was buzzing with ideas and conversations about community engagement from a varied group, including individual artists of all disciplines and people representing both nonprofit and for-profit organizations.

Application tips via @KnightArts:

• Be creative but be realistic. Think BIG but make sure it’s something that can realistically be done.
• Raising matching funds-It’s a learning curve & bunch of life lessons. But when you get Knight $ new opps arise.
• Bearded Ladies applied both years & won in year 2. They’re not a nonprofit. “We’re small. We work in cardboard.”
• This is one of the few grant programs that really only cares about the quality of the idea.
• 3 rules: idea about the arts, has to take place in or benefit Philly, you find matching fundings. Don’t worry about #3 yet.
• If you’re not sure about your description, bring it to 5 friends & ask if they get it.
• It’s about bringing people together through the arts.
