Last night Knight Foundation received its seventh and eighth Emmy nominations (Suncoast region) in the last five years.

This year’s first nomination was for a short film Theaster Gates: Soul Manufacturing Corporation. The film arose from Gates’ exhibition at Locust Projects during Art Basel last December. Knight Foundation’s second nomination was for episode 117 of WPBT’s weekly cultural program Artloft. The episode aired the Theaster Gates short and Artloft was launched with Knight Foundation funding.

Theaster Gates: Soul Manufacturing Corporation was produced and directed by Marlon Johnson and Dennis Scholl.  It is Johnson and Scholl’s fifth and sixth collaborative Emmy nomination. They have won three Emmys for Knight Foundation film projects.

Our friends at Borscht Film and WPBT  were also nominated for the Knight Foundation-supported short film Si Nos Dejan.
