Leggo My Demo 2.0

Grassroots project Leggo My Demo has announced a fundraising drive to complete the final stages of development for revolutionary new music site leggomydemo.com. The group looks to expose deserving independent artists with a real-time ranking system and internet radio. Leggo developers have combined a custom ranking system and social networking platform that provides a live feed of the best new independent music on the market, based on community preference. The concept is the result of one year of research and collaboration with over 1000 international dj’s and producers. Today, founder Chris Chrebet checks in with an update…

The fundraiser is to complete the funds needed to match and release the Knight Foundation grant.  We are 3/4 of the way through this project and the final 1/4 of funds will allow us to complete full development.  The final site will be a social network of independent artists dj’s and producers that rank independent music.  The site ranks these tracks in real-time and then feeds the results to our internet radio which is searchable by genre and location.  We plan on using these funds to build smart phone apps very similar to Pandora, but strictly for independent music.  The result will be a music platform and radio that gives deserving artists a chance to be heard.

I’m personally looking forward to the live feed of independent music ranked in real-time and accessible as a user-generated radio app that will fairly distribute the best independent music to enthusiasts around the world.  The project was given its kick-start in 2009 with a $30k Knight Foundation matching arts grant. Leggo My Demo is now looking to raise money to match the grant and finish development of version 1.0. Each dollar raised will be matched 2:1 by the Knight Foundation up to the goal of $3k. Funds must be raised by Sept 30th to count toward the matching grant. We’re raising funds through our online platform at www.indiegogo.com/leggo.
