School’s out, but Locust Projects is hitting the books. This Friday, June 14^th, from 7-10pm, in collaboration with the Miami-based mobile book library Bookleggers and the L.A.-based organization, The Art Book Review, Locust Projects will host a One Night Stand featuring a selection of free books. Bookleggers will be providing an eclectic collection of art and picture books, and encourages attendees to bring their own used books to swap at the event. The Art Book Review will be offering free art-related books, in exchange for the recipient agreeing to write a review of the book.  Libations and music will set the backdrop as guests mingle and peruse titles.

Guests are also encouraged to flip through titles in Locust Projects extensive permanent library of contemporary art books. The collection includes over 1,500 personally collected books, including artist monographs and a diverse array of catalogues from international exhibitions spanning three decades. In addition to during this One Night Stand, the library is accessible to the public any time that Locust Projects is open.  Executive Director, Chana Sheldon, explains that library is an effort by Locust Projects “to create an inspirational place for the community to come in, hang out, read, exchange ideas, think, and daydream.”

The playground more your thing? Make sure to try out the swings that are a part of Jillian Mayer’s imaginative exhibit, Precipice/PostModem, which is currently on display in the space.
