A whirlwind of red lipstick and purple sequins is getting ready to overtake Miami Beach.

Miami Light Project is proud to present the South Florida debut of cabaret diva Meow Meow on April 22-23, 2011 at the Colony Theater on Miami Beach. This raven-haired dynamo enthralls the audience with her magnificent vocal prowess and her hilarious storytelling. Performing for the first time in Miami, Meow Meow represents the new face of international cabaret.

Having heard about the work of Meow Meow for years, MLP finally had the chance to see her live at the Ringling International Arts Festival in Sarasota in 2009, and we knew she was an artist that we had to share with Miami. Throughout our 23 year history, presenting the most vanguard, cutting edge and excellent contemporary performance has been central to our mission. We felt that Meow Meow with her sensational voice, hilarious storytelling and mastery of the stage was the embodiment of that mission. Meow Meow has performed in venues as diverse as the Sydney Opera House, Joe’s Pub (New York), American Repertory Theatre (Boston), the Berlin Philharmonic, ‘The Famous Spiegeltents globally, London’s West End, and numerous international arts festivals including Time Based Arts (US), Ann Arbor, Edinburgh, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Braga, Portugal and the Festival Estuaire, France. She is a frequent collaborator with an eclectic mix of the world’s greatest artistic visionaries including Pina Bausch, David Bowie, Iain Grandage, Pink Martini, John Cameron Mitchell, and the Dresden Dolls among others.

This exclusive engagement marks Meow Meows first time in South Florida. Named top ten “Best of Cabaret” by Time Out New York, “cabaret diva of the highest order” by the New York Post and “A phenomenon” by the Australian press, the “Post -post- modern cabaret diva” Meow Meow has wowed audiences globally with her unique brand of cabaret and performance. Accompanied by a pianist and cellist, and making use of video projection across her taut belly, we are so excited to bring this “Diva from Down Under” to the Colony Theater!
