Milton Esterow, ARTnews editor and publisher, will speak at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art on April 24th at 7 p.m. Esterow will discuss “How to Look at Art without Feeling Inferior,” sharing his ample knowledge and experience with the art world garnered over 60 years as an arts journalist, editor, gallery director, author and publisher. ARTnews is the most widely circulated art magazine in the world, balancing reporting on contemporary art with coverage of modern and old masters, profiles of notable collectors and inside views of the art market.

Esterow began his work in journalism and art as a copy boy at The New York Times in 1945. By 1948, he had become a reporter specializing in cultural affairs; then he joined the Times‘ drama and film departments, writing frequently about the art world. In 1972, Esterow purchased ARTnews from Newsweek, shepherding the magazine to its current success.

The lecture is free, but reservations are required and can be reserved online or by calling 704-353-9200. A 6 p.m. reception with wine and light hors d’oeuvres will precede the lecture. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to hear a noted art critic and writer.
