“Moment Mile” at Mint Museum Uptown
On November 1, 2014 at 6:15 p.m., a groundbreaking photograph was taken in Uptown Charlotte. One hundred and thirty-eight photographers gathered on Tryon Street to take two simultaneous photographs that captured both sides of the street for one unique panorama called “Moment Mile.” Led by Sean Busher, the photograph was an awareness building project for The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film.
“Participatory projects like ‘Moment Mile’ are a new avenue that involve the Charlotte community in what we are doing at The Light Factory, and more broadly involve others in the art of film and photography,” said Busher, a board member of The Light Factory.
The two views of Tryon Street have been stitched together to create two, 100-foot-long-and-11-inch-tall prints. “Moment Mile” will be on view until February 22, 2015 at Mint Museum Uptown in the level 5 expansion space, which is a raw, unfinished space on the museum’s top floor. This exhibition is free to the public during regular museum hours. Museum visitors will receive special admission stickers to visit the level 5 gallery.
