Moore opens submissions for “Film al Fresco”
Moore College of Art & Design has released a call for submissions for the upcoming “Film al Fresco” juried competition and outdoor film series. The Galleries at Moore received a $20,000 Knight Arts Grant to establish the series in response to Knight’s question: “What’s your best idea for the arts in Philadelphia?” Out of over 1,200 applicants, only 55 – including The Galleries at Moore – were selected as finalists, furthering Moore’s commitment to providing Philly with innovate ideas in contemporary art and visual culture.
Through “Film al Fresco”, filmmakers from the Greater Philadelphia region (which encompasses Southeastern PA: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties) are encouraged to submit moving image works in a total of five categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Narrative Short, Animated Short, and Documentary Short. The festival will expand Moore’s already noteworthy program of presenting emerging Philadelphia-based artists to the community and beyond.
A number of noteworthy artists and curators make up the panel of jurors for the festival including Chicago-based artist and filmmaker Javier Carmona, creative collaborators and founders of the Philadelphia “Screening” space Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib, Rochelle F. Levy Director and Curator of The Galleries at Moore College of Art & Design Kaytie Johnson, and International House Philadelphia Program Curator Jesse Pires.
Screenings for the festival will last from June 14 through August 7, 2013 and the deadline for submission is March 31 at midnight. Visit the “Film al Fresco” page on Moore’s site for additional information and submission forms.
