NC Dance Theatre gets collaborative
Now through February 15th, North Carolina Dance Theatre’s signature performance, “Innovative Works,” gives audiences an unprecedented viewing experience and access to the dancers and artists with the intimate 200-seat 701 N. Tryon Theatre and post-show reception. This year’s “Innovative Works” is also unique featuring live music, spoken word and collaborative choreography. Tickets are on sale for $25, $45, $65 levels, but all include the complimentary post-show reception.
“Innovative Works” will include four ballets created through the collaborative efforts of NC Dance Theatre choreographers and local artists and cultural groups. Dwight Rhoden worked with the Levine Museum of the New South to create a dance inspired by the “Focus on Justice” exhibition and using photos featured in the display. Mark Diamond’s piece, “Contrast,” will feature live music by guitarist Troy Conn. “Transformation” by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Quentin “Q” Talley will combine ballet and spoken word, while Sasha Janes’ new work, “Chaconne,” uses music by Bach.
Last year, seven of the 10 performances sold out. With only two weekends left to see “Innovative Works,” don’t miss this one-of-a-kind dance experience.
The remaining performances are scheduled for February 7-8 and 14-15 at 7:30 p.m.
