PROJECT Trio members may have all been classically trained, but their music is anything but traditional. Don’t miss the premiere of their original arrangement of the classic “Peter and the Wolf.”

The Charlotte Symphony (a Knight Arts grantee) presents an extra-special retelling of Prokofiev’s popular orchestral adventure, “Peter and the Wolf,” featuring PROJECT Trio. PROJECT Trio (flute, cello and bass) will share their brand new arrangement of this fairy tale on Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. in the beautiful Knight Theater.

PROJECT Trio has performed for many diverse audiences, including more than 80,000 students across three continents. Blending their classical training with an eclectic taste in musical styles, PROJECT Trio continues to have a lasting impact on audiences of all ages.

PROJECT Trio’s music is high octane; a fun and unique experience you won’t soon forget. Their performances are high energy and will inspire any music lover, young or old. Many aspects of this group’s work are rooted in classical music traditions. They are a close, dynamic ensemble that have worked together for some time. All three were trained in classical music at the Cleveland Institute of Music, yet they each have diverse musical interests.

Each musician brings their own skill set, passion and character to the mix. Greg Pattillo is recognized throughout the world for his redefinition of flute sound, even lauded by The New York Times as “the best person in the world at what he does.” His unforgettable “beatbox flute” style is quite unique and passionate.

An exceptionally versatile cellist, Eric Stephenson’s style ranges from classical to jazz to rock and folk. He has performed with numerous orchestras like the IRIS Orchestra in Memphis, TN and the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, CO. Dallas native Peter Seymour has performed with a multitude of highly acclaimed artists and ensembles and was the recipient of the Downbeat Magazine Award for Best Jazz Soloist in 1996.

The whole is most definitely greater than the sum of this trio’s very talented parts. Their eclectic tastes in music and musical experiences bring a new energy to these classical instruments in a way that one is hard pressed to find elsewhere. Seymour will tell you their music is all about versatility. There’s a “new way music’s being presented and done. I think you have to be versatile.” It is so much more than that. You do not want to miss this opportunity to experience their electrifying performance.
