Support independent film in Akron
The Akron Independent Film Festival was awarded a $120,000 Knight Arts grant to launch Akron Film+Pixel, Akron’s first and only digital art house cinema. Executive director Steve Felix is attracting buzz and local support. Cleveland Business Connects recently wrote about Felix and Akron Film+Pixel, writing:
“Felix, a former wedding videographer who has led the Akron film group since 2009, is always trying to build on that momentum through new projects. His organization’s latest enterprise is The Nightlight, billed as Akron’s first and only full-time art house cinema.
When it opens later this spring, the single-screen, 50-to-75-seat venue at an as yet undisclosed location in downtown Akron will feature daily programming that provides residents with independent and foreign films in their own backyard. Visitors can enjoy the newest indies with a refreshing accompaniment of locally sourced drinks and food.”
