The 567 Center for Renewal displays the artistry of Macon’s own Daly Smith
By Erica Simmons, 567 Center for Renewal
The 567 Center for Renewal has the honor and the pleasure to display the artistry of Macon’s own Daly Smith throughout the month of May. Smith’s exhibit “The American Landscape” showcases his oil paintings of well-known landmarks in Macon and scenes from around the United States. In addition to the exhibit, his abstract paintings are on display as well. Smith frequently travels and finds inspiration in the beauty of the landscape he comes across. Smith often paints “plein air”, showing his ability to paint outside looking directly at the landscape. In his “painterly” work, he uses bold brushstrokes and texture using natural earthy tones. This unique and complex combination leaves the viewer with a feeling of warmth and charm.
As the month of May comes to a close, The 567 must bid “The American Landscape” exhibit adieu, but not before hearing Smith say a few words about his work, his inspiration, and histechnique. The 567 will host a gallery talk eventMay 30 from 6:00-7:30 PM. The gallery talk will be the last chance to see “The American Landscape” exhibit, and the event is free! Please feel free to bring a friend and enjoy the farewell event. The 567 is located at 533 Cherry St, Macon. Have questions, call The 567 at 238-6051 or visit the website.
