By John Jarboe, The Bearded LadiesThe Bearded Ladies are on the move this summer.  In order to reach our Knight Foundation matching goal, we launched our first Kickstarter and are staging shows all around Philadelphia with local arts organizations.  This summer you can catch us at The Wilma Gala (June 8th), the Sofitel Hotel (June 21st), Philadelphia Museum of Art (July 13th), Eastern State Penitentiary (July 14th), and back at The Wilma for a remount of our Beards Are For Shaving: A 007 Cabaret (July 19th-27th).  We are learning pretty quickly what an incredible and incredibly supportive community we live in; we have already had over twenty backers on Kickstarter in our first week, and some of whom we don’t even know.  Part of whats so exciting about the pressure to raise funds, is that it is pushing us out of our comfort zones and our usual haunts.  Adapting our shows to perform at the art museum, and Eastern State is a challenge and brings our work to totally new groups of viewers.  We can’t wait for our Bearded Ladies Cabaret Revolution to start this fall, to start creating new work, and this time (when we make our goal) we will be able to support ourselves and our collaborations.
