The Betsy Hotel transforms Miami’s literary scene
The Writer’s Room at The Betsy is transforming and fostering the vitality of Miami’s literary community. Through The Writer’s Room, which is in its second season, the Betsy offers emerging and established writers and artists short-term residencies. Although the program has a special commitment to poets, writers and artists across disciplines and genres come to The Betsy to create and refine their writing in a tranquil, yet vibrant setting.
This Thursday, August 1st at 7 p.m., The Betsy presents teaching poet Yaddyra Peralta for a Literary Cocktail Salon. The salon will offer Peralta a relaxed platform from which to talk poetry and share her experiences as a writer and resident of The Writer’s Room with the public.
The Literary Cocktail Salon is an important component of The Writer’s Room at The Betsy because it connects the local writing community with the larger community. Through connection, The Betsy creates an environment where literature comes to life. With public engagement, writers and artists can have a tangible impact on culture—and The Betsy provides this important space for transformational change .
The Literary Cocktail Salon with Yaddyra Peralta will take place August 1st at 7 p.m. at The Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach; 305-760-6900; www.thebetsyhotel.com.
