
The DSO is on the go
The symphony goes mobile today as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra releases DSO To Go, a free mobile app. Available for for iPhone, iTouch, iPad, Android and mobile web platforms, DSO To Go gives patrons a “handheld passport to all things DSO.” Think free access to “Live from Orchestra Hall” webcasts, direct links to Facebook & Twitter portals, a library of digital albums, DSO news and special offers. DSO To Go is one of three new tech initiatives recently announced by the DSO, all sponsored by Knight Foundation. Others include Live from Orchestra Hall, a series of live streamed HD webcasts beginning Oct 9 and the Symphony’s first digital album, a series of live, downloadable concerts including Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto. “Live from Orchestra Hall” will make the DSO the first US orchestra to livestream a regular series of concerts. The first webcast will air Sunday, Oct 9 at 2:50pm – tune in at dso.org, dptv.org or wrcjfm.org.
