The Secret Society Of Twisted Storytellers matched its $30,000, two-year grant award in May 2014 after only eight months. Thanks to the Knight Foundation the popular storytelling event has expanded and developed to become The Society for the Re-Institutionalization of Storytelling, a Michigan 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The non-profit will continue its global mission to connect humanity, heal and transform community and to provide an uplifting, thought-provoking, soul-cleansing entertainment experience through the art and craft of storytelling.
The Secret Society Of Twisted Storytellers excited and proud to have presented over 125 storytellers, 50 performing artists in just over two years. The response from the community has been overwhelming in enthusiasm, volunteerism and word-of-mouth. Implementation of a weekly Podcast series is in development, story directors and storytelling workshops are being developed to expose youth, educational, arts and business communities to the art and craft of storytelling. The Secret Society Of Twisted Storytellersâ, now a production of The Society for the Re-Institutionalization of Storytelling is thrilled to bring Mr. Dick Gregory in November 2014 to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History to share a story on the curatorial theme “Patience.”
