The curtain call is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this special event are $45, which includes hors d’oeuvres, wine, door prize entry. All proceeds benefit the Guild’s Community Access Fund.

After tonight’s special fundraising performance, there are plenty more shows to catch. Theatre Charlotte’s production of this beloved story — with it’s broad audience appeal and affordable ticket prices — has Sunday matinees as well as the Friday and Saturday evening performances.

“Around the World in 80 Days” is one of the most recognized stories, considering it was first published in 1873. Jules Verne’s original novel is about the attempt of globetrotting Phileas Fogg and his manservant, Passepartout, to circumnavigate the world in 80 days based on a wager set by his friends at the Reform Club. It is one of Verne’s most acclaimed works and has been reinvented in many different forms throughout the years.

This particular creative performance, adapted by Brown from the novel by Verne, has stampeding elephants, raging typhoons, runaway trains and is unabashedly slapstick. “Around the World in 80 Days” is the original “Amazing Race.” Fearless adventurer Fogg and his faithful manservant, Passepartout, race to beat the clock since Fogg placed a wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk. Experience the adventure as the two set out to circle the globe in 80 days. Danger, romance and comic surprises abound in this show as five actors portraying 39 characters traverse seven continents in one of the great adventures of all time.
