Mary Luft, Tigertail’s executive director, who will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2011 Miami Beach Arts Gala, is super busy. She is so busy ,we only had time to exchange a few words via e-mail about Tigertail’s upcoming season before she had to head out to see new work in New York at the Crossing the Line festival, where Luft is scouting for new work to feature during Tigertail’s 2012 – 2013 season.

Even though I couldn’t get all the exciting details about Tigertail’s upcoming season — a more extensive interview with Luft is coming soon— she did mention one name: “Wally Cardona.” Artistic Director, performer, choreographer and Bessie Award-winner Cardona, who was just mentioned in The New York Times, will be one of the many fascinating artists featured during Tigertail’s 2011 – 2012 season, which will include Livio Tragtenberg, AXIS Dance Company, Elliott Sharp and more.

But, before we get to the new season, join the Tigertail crew on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. to celebrate its new season at Wynwood Walls. Plus, it’s free. Outrageous New York City performance artist Pat Oleszko and Tigertail’s WordSpeak will perform at the party. Attendees will also have a chance at winning season tickets and other prizes.
