The nominations are in, and two Knight Arts films are up for a 2010 Suncoast Emmy.

Our 30-minute documentary of the 2008 Knight Arts Challenge is nominated in the Arts/Entertainment Program category. Subjects include Art Center/South Florida, Leggo My Demo and the New World School of the Arts.

Sunday’s Best, an eight-minute film documenting the Miami black community’s rich tradition of wearing elaborate hats to church, is nominated in the Religion-News category. The film blends interviews, vintage and contemporary photography and local gospel music. Sunday’s Best (pictured) made its screen debut during the 2009 season of Free Gospel Sundays at the Knight Concert Hall. Click here to see a short clip. Now in its 19th year, the Aspen Shortsfest is slated for April 6-11.
