UNC Charlotte’s hosts Fall Student Dance Concert
The University of North Carolina Charlotte Department of Dance’s Fall Student Concert is here. Four new works by dance faculty will be performed in the Anne R. Belk Theater from Nov. 21st through the 24th at 7:30 p.m. The varied program features interdisciplinary collaboration, a multiplicity of dance forms and a wide range of emotional expression from humor to grief.
Works in the concert include:
- “The Waiter Chronicles,” choreographed by Kim Jones, assistant professor of dance. This interdisciplinary piece blends dance, acting, and physical theater to celebrate the lives and struggles of those working in the service industry.
- ”Go ’round,’” created by Dr. Donna A. Dragon, assistant professor of dance, with the help of 12 dance majors who studied various cycles and repeating patterns in society and their own lives to perform a metaphoric merry-go-round.
- “don’t say a word,” choreographed by Associate Professor of Dance E.E. Balcos;
- Rachel Tucker’s “Broken Pärts,” which is a choreographic exploration of the five stages of grief and evokes the universal experience of loss.
Tickets are $6 for students, $9 for seniors and UNC Charlotte faculty and staff and $14 for general admission.
