Update: Twenty Twenty Projects

Scott Murray founded Miami’s Twenty Twenty Projects in 2006 as an alternative exhibition space designed to fuel the careers of local emerging artists working outside the traditional gallery system. In 2008, he was awarded $20,000 by the Knight Arts Challenge to provide a free display space for local artists at one of Miami’s December art fairs.  Today, he passes along an update on the project…

“In June, I moved Twenty Twenty Projects from its original location at 2020 NW Miami Ct. to a new, larger and (once the renovations are complete) more attractive space at 1388 SE 9 Ct in Hialeah.  I loved the modesty of the original gallery but ultimately its size along with other limitations had become insufficient in facilitating artists’ needs.  Throughout the summer I have been renovating the new space to get it ready for its inaugural exhibition on Saturday, September 19th and I’m glad to say that it will be complete very soon!

From the day I was awarded the Knight Foundation’s grant, intended for the acquisition of a booth in one of Miami’s December art fairs, I’ve been pursuing acceptance into NADA.  Over the summer I was notified of Twenty Twenty’s acceptance into the fair. Nicolas Lobo and Tom Scicluna will be collaborating on a project for this year’s booth.  Here is a link to Nick’s website, www.nicklobo.com and to Tom’s site www.tomscicluna.com.   Tom and Nick have both been an integral part of the gallery since it’s inception and I’m excited about the new ideas we’ve been discussing for this exhibition. This year, the NADA fair will be held in the ballroom of the historic Deauville Beach Resort on Miami Beach, a new location.”
