The Akron Civic Theatre is pleased to announce its 2011-2012 season of national attractions and locally produced events. Icons of American entertainment Willie Nelson (November 4th), and The Oak Ridge Boys (December 9th) are among the national acts scheduled to appear. Among the locally produced events are performances by The Akron Symphony, Ballet Theatre of Ohio, and Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet.

Family events continue to be a mainstay of The Civic’s programming. In 2011-2012, the theater will present performances of The University of Akron Steel Drum band, the magic of Stephen Knight, local favorites Zobapago, the return of Festival of Nations, and the Madcap giant puppets performing Jack and the Gentle Giant.

“The 2011-2012 season features a great mix of local and national talent.” said Civic Board President Mark Watkins. “We could not be happier with the diversity and number of programs. It’s great to see Akron’s jewel shine so brightly. The Board is particularly pleased that we will be continuing our successful ALL ACCESS program to make sure as many events as possible are accessible to everyone.”
