Sneak Peak: Bruce Weber @ MOCA

MOCA pairs the fashionable with the unfathomable in its upcoming exhibit Bruce Weber: Haiti/Little Haiti. The exhibition, sponsored by Knight Foundation, is Weber’s first major museum installation and features roughly 75 photographs of Miami’s Haitian community taken between 2003 and 2010. Vogue features the exhibit in its November “People are Talking About” section and quotes Weber: “ ‘The Haitians are my neighbors,’ says Weber who lives there [Miami] part-time. ‘They needed fair representation.’” Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of Knight Foundation, adds: “This show is supported by KF because the photos are beautiful art and because they show our Haitian neighbors just as they are, as people we would all want to know and cherish. As Bruce says in the [Vogue] article, “I hope the reaction is, I see myself in these pictures.”Bruce Weber: Haiti/Little Haiti runs at MOCA Nov 19, 2010-Februrary 13, 2011.
