Sneak peak: The 2011 Concrete and Grass Lowertown Music Festival

The fifth annual Concrete and Grass Lowertown Music Festival is gearing up for three days of great music in Mears Park, Saint Paul. Concrete and Grass welcomes music lovers of all ages and celebrates that people are not one-dimensional in their musical tastes. Thanks to the support from the Knight Foundation, the festival can offer some outstanding musical talent this year without charging an admission fee! This year’s schedule is as follows:

Friday, Sept. 9th – Mears Park Stage 5:30 p.m.         Speed’s the Name from McNally Smith College of Music 7:00 p.m.         Minnesota Opera Resident Artists 8:30 p.m.         Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum (Solo Acoustic)

Saturday, Sept. 10th – Mears Park Stage 1:00 p.m.         Bomba De Luz 2:30 p.m.         Alma Brasileira 4:00 p.m.         The New Primitives presented by the Ordway 5:30 p.m.         Jimi Behringer Band 7:00 p.m.         Alison Scott 8:30 p.m.         Freedy Johnston

Sunday, Sept. 11th – Mears Park Stage 1:00 p.m.         Schubert Club Scholarship Competition Winners and Finalists 2:00 p.m.         Martin Devaney 3:00 p.m.         Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra
