How do we make our communities more successful?

At Knight Foundation we’re constantly thinking about that question, what community success means to us as an institution and what it means in 26 cities across the country where we have deep local roots. It’s an issue Knight will return to time and again this year as we announce new initiatives and tap into the best knowledge in the field.

We want you to be a part of that conversation. That’s why on Thursday, March 13, I plan to hold a Twitter chat to discuss our strategy and to hear what you’re thinking about too.

Knight is investing in civic innovation from coast to coast, in our communities from San Jose to Miami. We want a national network of learning to help move these places forward and to develop tools that can be used by anyone, anywhere to make their communities successful. We want you to be a part of that.

Some great work is already underway. Wednesday Andrés Duany and I held a webinar on the Project for Lean Urbanism, a low-friction method of trying to help people remake their communities in faster ways. And later this month, artist Hunter Franks will begin his Creative Interventions Tour—first stop Macon, Ga.—to help build new community connections. There is much more ahead, but first let’s have this conversation.

Join me on Thursday, March 13, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET. Pose your questions to @ccoletta and use the hashtag #knightcities. Join this national network of learning and let’s move forward together.

Carol Coletta, vice president of community and national initiatives at Knight Foundation
